About the Role
Craft Evitable’s communications from the ground up. Drive awareness of AI's dangers and awareness that we can and should push back on A(S)I inevitability. Work directly with the CEO to design communication strategies and tactics, from branding to talking points, and proactively drive execution to deliver effectively on the Evitable mission. You will be required to work closely with the CEO, and be able to make quick decisions that represent their strategy and vision.
Coming in as one of the first hires means that you will be closely connected to our CEO and all aspects of our work--getting significant insight into our overall organizational development and evolving programs.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement Evitable’s communication strategy from the ground up.
Build and manage strong press and media relations, securing coverage that positions Evitable as an authoritative leader in the space.
Map out the ecosystem of key journalists, organizations, movements, and potential partners.
Coordinate production of prominent Evitable outputs, including video and writing.
Advise on, draft messaging for, and provide speaker preparation for press, media, and public engagements.
Stand up and scale digital engagement, building Evitable’s online presence across social platforms, testing and optimising content, and expanding its reach.
Track relevant breaking and developing news stories; develop and implement effective responses.
Rapid-turnaround requests (op-eds, press materials, urgent media inquiries).
Contribute assertively to strategic discussions, assisting the CEO to make final decisions.
Editing written work such as blog posts.
Qualifications
Required
Purpose-driven and aligned with Evitable’s mission to make people aware of the dangers of AI, and aware that we can and should prevent further progress towards Superintelligence.
3+ years of experience in communications in political, policy, or advocacy environments.
Existing relationships with media contacts relevant to Org’s mission.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different stakeholders.
Experience coordinating video production, and working with production teams.
Ability to communicate complex technical issues in sensitive, political contexts.
Experience in rapid response communication.
Nice to Have
Experience training and coaching speakers, spokespeople and volunteer leaders.
Experience recruiting and managing people and teams.
Experience with bipartisan messaging.
Demonstrated success securing positive media coverage and driving social media growth.
Experience working in technology policy.
