About Evitable
AI companies are working to replace human workers and concentrate power in the hands of a few tech elites, building ever more powerful systems without knowing how to control them.
Evitable is a new nonprofit with an ambitious goal: To put an end to the race to develop “superintelligence”, a hypothesized type of incredibly powerful AI system that could end humanity. This project poses unacceptable risks to society.
Evitable works to inform and organize the public to confront these risks. We believe people have a right to know. We are sounding the alarm, loudly and publicly, with our communications work. Our goal is to help incubate a grassroots movement calling for fundamental solutions, such as a moratorium on AI development. We will empower people to educate themselves and their communities, take effective political actions, and push back on unwanted AI projects.
We are a small, early-stage organization. Candidates who are right for this role will be excited by the start-up atmosphere and the prospect of finding new ways of communicating about the risks of AI to the broad public.
About the Role
The Head of Communications owns Evitable's communications function and sets our communications strategy. You will lead the development of our public narrative, with the ED holding sign-off on major positioning and our highest-stakes public moments, and with support from the Head of Movement Building. You will build and run all communications operations, either personally or through delegation, and you will decide how Evitable shows up in a contested media space.
This is a role that requires an ability to build from scratch. The ideal candidate has set communications strategy independently before and is energized by owning the call rather than executing someone else's brief. Evitable aims to rapidly build public power around what we believe is the most consequential issue in human history, so creative and daring approaches are vital.

Develop materials for organizers and partners who may not be AI specialists.
Brand and digital

Coordinate production of video, written content, and special projects.
Organizational
