Compensation: $80,000 - $110,000 (Operations Associate); $110,000 - $160,000 (Head of Operations) per annum, depending on experience and qualifications, with competitive benefits package

About the Role

You will help to shape operations for a new movement to push back on A(S)I inevitability by designing and building operational systems that enable Evitable to deliver on its mission, grow rapidly, and ensure accountability, security, and compliance. You will work directly with the CEO to stand up the org and turn strategic vision into operational excellence. Early work will involve considerable execution, alongside strategic thinking and planning to scale up the organization and its operations. You will be required to work closely with the CEO, and be able to make quick decisions that represent their strategy and vision. Coming in as one of the first hires means that you will be closely connected to our CEO and all aspects of our work--getting significant insight into our overall organizational development and evolving programs. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Operations and Organizational Development 

    • Establish and maintain accountable, scalable work processes and policies for the organization.

    • Contribute to develop strategic plans and actionable roadmaps in meetings with the CEO, assisting the CEO to make final decisions.

    • Develop and track action items for everyone in the organization, and support team members to meet the organization's deliverables.

    • Step up to own end-to-end execution of a wide array of tasks and projects related to organizational development and operations.

    • Managing vendors and/or contractors.

  • Recruiting and Team Development

    • Help recruit and hire founding team.

    • Develop and manage programs for onboarding, training, and team development, alongside the senior team.

  • Financial and Risk Management 

    • Establish and maintain 501(c)(3) and/or 501(c)(4) compliance and reporting systems. 

    • Liaise with Evitable’s fiscal sponsor to prepare and execute a spin out.

    • Set up and lead build out-of HR, payroll, finance, bookkeeping, and other foundational operations.

Qualifications

  • Required

    • Purpose-driven and aligned with Evitable’s mission to make people aware of the dangers of AI, and aware that we can and should prevent further progress towards Superintelligence.

    • 3+ years of experience in operations.

    • Successful track record of establishing, developing, and maintaining accountable, secure, and scalable organizational policies and work processes.

    • Experience participating in strategic planning; translating strategy into actionable roadmaps; and driving execution.

    • Experience with financial administration, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting for nonprofit organizations.

  • Nice to Have

    • Operations experience in political, policy, or advocacy environments, including both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations.

    • Experience building operations in early-stage start-up organizations.

    • Experience recruiting and managing people and teams.

    • Experience managing hybrid and distributed teams.

    • Experience working in technology policy, safety, ethics, and/or activism.
